How to Care for Printed & Embroidered Shirts (Make Them Last Years)
Printed Shirt Care questions answered by the team that prints it every day. Platinum Digital Printing runs its own presses, embroidery machines and large-format printers in Randburg, Johannesburg — this guide shares what we tell our own clients, with no sales fog.
Washing Rules
Cold or 30°C wash, inside out, gentle cycle. Heat is the enemy of every print method — it cracks plastisol, lifts transfers and fades colour.
Skip fabric softener on printed areas; it degrades adhesion over time.
Drying and Ironing
Line-dry in shade. Tumble drying cooks prints; direct sun fades them. Never iron directly on a print — inside out, low heat, or iron around it.
Embroidery tolerates more heat but still prefers inside-out treatment.
Storage
Fold printed shirts rather than hanging heavy prints on thin hangers (shoulder distortion), and store dry — damp storage breeds mildew spots no wash removes.
For exact numbers, send your brief to Platinum Digital Printing — quotes come back within the hour on business days, with a free artwork check and digital proof before anything prints.
When Prints Fail Early
Premature cracking usually means the wrong wash temperature; peeling means heat or softener. Quality DTF and screen prints survive 50+ correct washes easily.
Because production happens in-house at our Randburg centre, Gauteng clients can collect same-day on many products, and national orders courier within 1–3 working days.
